career and education:

2002 - present

resigned from BBC and became freelance

promoted to lighting director.  Typical BBC work included EastEnders, Top of the Pops, Rory Bremner, Wogan, Live and Kicking, Ruby, Shooting Stars, Hippies, Lee Evans - So What Now?, Stupid Punts, Britpop Now.

1986 - 1990

promoted to lighting vision supervisor (console op)

1985 - 1986

transferred to lighting department.  Trained as vision operator (racks)

1976 - 1985

camera assistant, then cameraman.  Worked on wide range of programmes including I Claudius, Pennies From Heaven, BBC Shakespeares, Dr Who, Top of the Pops, various sitcoms, entertainment shows and dramas.

Joined BBC as trainee camera assistant.  Trained at Wood Norton, Evesham for three months then transferred to Television Centre.
