One Foot in the Grave Christmas special 1995 director/producer - Susie Belbin designer - John Asbridge console operator - Will Charles This hour-long special was recorded over several days in the studio. My brother Chris, the 'One Foot' regular LD, could only cover two days so I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to light the scenes set in the spooky house as seen in these stills. Chris lit the scenes in the bedroom, the hotel and Victor's house. The set was a joy to light, being a composite with a large number of rooms and partly on two levels. I had not seen such an eleborate set in a Television Centre studio since the days of recording major dramas. The main characters were supposed to have been stranded in a snowstorm in the middle of winter and a murderer was after them so there was plenty of opportunity for moody atmosphere! The episode was entered in the RTS craft and design awards and we were jointly nominated for the best non-drama production that year.
