I'm Alan Partridge (2002 series) director - Tristram Shapeero producer - Armando Iannucci designer - Dennis DeGroot console operator - Gill Hersee gaffer - Bob Bandoo This series was almost entirely shot on four hand-held cameras in front of an audience in mostly four-walled sets.  The scripts were being re-written right up to the recording so there was very little for us to see at the tech run in the rehearsal room.  Therefore I had to light each set not knowing how it would be shot or where the artistes would be standing.  The production relied very much on a superb team effort between cameras, sound and lighting with each department making many compromises in order to help the others.  Very ably directed by Tristram Shapeero, this series challenged all of us in every possible way.  The second episode was entered in the RTS craft and design awards and I was lucky enough to receive a nomination in the 'lighting for multicamera' category.
